March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month! If you or a Loved one has recently been diagnosed, please call us here at CHOA to schedule an appointment. 843-577-6957.

There is also a free screening at Roper St. Francis this month if you are interested.

Through the Hank and Laurel Greer Colorectal Cancer Program they are offering free
digital rectal exams (DREs) and fecal immunochemical tests (FITs).
DREs check the lower rectum, pelvis and lower belly for cancer and other health problems. FITs test
stool for hidden blood that may be a sign of colorectal cancer.

To Participate in the Screening You Must Be:
• Age 50 and older, or if you are African American age 45 and older; or,
• Your age must be 10 years prior to the age of a first degree relative having colorectal cancer. For
example, if your mother had colorectal cancer at age 45 you would need a screening at age 35.

5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Roper St. Francis Cancer Center on the campus of
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital
Registration is required to receive a screening. To register, call (843) 402-CARE.
