David M. Ellison, MD

David M. Ellison, MD is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology. A graduate of Yale University and Duke University School of Medicine, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and his fellowship at Duke University in Hematology/Oncology.

George F. Geils, Jr., MD

George F. Geils, Jr., MD is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology. He is the Medical Director for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program for Roper St. Francis Healthcare. A graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, he completed his residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center and his fellowship at The University of Alabama.

Charles Holladay, MD, FACP

Charles Holladay, MD, FACP is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology. A South Carolina native, Dr. Holladay joined Charleston Oncology in 2001. He is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina where he also completed his residency and fellowship.

Ashley Jeter, MD

Ashley Jeter, MD is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. She completed internal medicine residency and hematology and oncology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina.

George Keogh, MD

George Keogh, MD is board-certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology. He completed his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Brian Lingerfelt, MD

Brian M. Lingerfelt, MD graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia Campus. He completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Emory University Winship Cancer Institute.

Douglas Michaelsen, MD

Douglas Michaelsen, MD is a graduate of Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina and is board-certified to practice in internal medicine and medical oncology.

Gene Saylors, MD

Gene B. Saylors, MD is board-certified in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from The University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Julia Saylors, MD

Julia Saylors, MD is board-certified to practice in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology. She completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she also completed her residency in internal medicine.

Shelly Shand, MD

Shelly Christiansen Shand, MD graduated from the University of Georgia and earned her Doctorate of Medicine from Mercer University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Utah.

Nicholas J. Schmidt Jr., M.D

Nicholas J. Schmidt Jr., M.D., is a board-certified physician in internal medicine, oncology, and hematology with Charleston Oncology. He graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College M.D. with a B.S. in biology

Brian Greenwell, M.D

Dr. Brian Greenwell is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology.  He earned his B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University and subsequently his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2012.

Our Physician Assistants

Corin Jaynes, PA-C

Biography
Corin D. Elg, PA-C is a board-certified physician assistant. Originally from Illinois, Corin graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in 2005 and soon after moved to beautiful Charleston. After spending a few years working in a local obstetric and gynecology office she pursued further education at the Medical University of South Carolina. Corin received her Masters’s in Physician Assistant Studies in 2012. She worked in the upstate after graduation but knew she needed to return to the low country. She is happy to be back working, spending time with her friends, and participating in many athletic events, all in the best city in the world!

Eliza Hough, PA-C

Biography

Eliza C. Hough, PA-C is a board-certified physician assistant. Eliza graduated Cum Laude from Clemson University in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology and later received her Masters’s in Physician Assistant Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2009. She is a proud Charleston native who enjoys many things in her free time including inshore or offshore fishing with her husband and learning about photography. Professional memberships include the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Golden Key National Honor Society.

Ashley Mackintosh, PA-C

Biography
Ashley attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where she graduated with a BS in Biology. She pursued her passion in medicine by attending the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) where she graduated among the top of her class in 2010. Since then, Ashley practiced as a PA in Asheville, NC but has happily started a new journey in Charleston. As an outdoor enthusiast, Ashley is excited to experience coastal life. She enjoys running, yoga, and spending time with her spaniel, Wilbur.

Lindsey Vollono, PA-C

Biography
Lindsey M. Vollono, PA-C is a board-certified physician assistant. Originally from Connecticut, she graduated summa cum laude from UConn with a BS in Health Sciences. She then went on to receive her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies at the Medical University of South Carolina where she graduated at the top of her class in 2011. She started her career in cardiology and internal medicine but is excited to now be part of the CHOA team and return to the Lowcountry area. She enjoys spending time with her family on Fripp Island, going crabbing with her husband, and playing with her French bulldog, Chubs.

Erin Lott, PA-C

Erin D. Lott is a board-certified physician assistant. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia and went on to receive her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from the Medical University of South Carolina. Erin spent the first five years of her PA career working in pulmonary medicine in the Charleston area but is excited to now be a part of this oncology team. She loves Charleston and enjoys all of the culinary and artistic talents that are abundant in this city. Erin is a member of The American Academy of Physician Assistants and The South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants.

Heather Cheek, PA-C

Biography
Heather B. DuBose, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University and later graduated cum laude from Medical University of South Carolina as a Physician Assistant in 2002. She started her career in medicine working with Charleston Oncology and has rejoined the team, after spending 8 years in Internal Medicine. Heather enjoys reading, going to the beach, and spending time with her 2 children, parents, and friends. She is active in her church and enjoys being a parent leader in her son’s Cub Scout pack. She also looks forward to visiting her sister’s family in Atlanta and traveling back to Delaware each summer to vacation in Bethany Beach.

Mary MacDonald, PA-C

Mary S. MacDonald, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant and has specialized in Hematology and Medical Oncology for 16 years. She completed her Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant at the Medical University of South Carolina and received her Bachelor of Science with honors from Presbyterian College. She is a member of the South Carolina Association of Physician Assistants.

Rachel Henderson, PA-C

Biography

Rachel Henderson, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant. Rachel graduated summa cum laude from Clemson University in 2018 with a degree in pre-professional health sciences and a minor in biology. In 2019, she moved to Charleston, SC, where she worked in phase 1 oncology clinical trials, working with advanced solid tumor patients of all varieties at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Hollings Cancer Center. Rachel then went on to get her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at MUSC and graduated in 2022. Following PA school, she completed a 1-year elective Advanced Practitioner fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Levine Cancer in Charlotte, NC, where she rotated between various subspecialties to learn more about the field and advance her skills. She was inspired to enter the field of hematology/oncology to honor her dad, who battled lymphoma years ago, and to provide exemplary care to patients undergoing similar journeys. As a SC native, she enjoys spending time with friends and family nearby.

Our Nurse Practitioners

Tina Withrow, APRN, FNP-C, AOCNP

Biography
Tina Withrow is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She earned a master’s degree in nursing from Simmons College and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religious studies from the College of Charleston. A Lowcountry native, Withrow has worked as an oncology nurse in both inpatient and outpatient settings for more than 20 years. She currently lives in Mount Pleasant with her two daughters.

Ann Shattuck, NP-C

Biography
Ann is a graduate of Appalachian State University. She obtained her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Trident Technical College and completed her BSN from the University of Texas at Arlington. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati. She is a certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Prior to joining Charleston Oncology, she worked in the inpatient and outpatient settings to include critical care, cardiovascular, and nephrology. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves to travel.

Pamela Stuckey, ANP

Biography
Pamela Stuckey graduated from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She obtained her BSN from the Medical University of South Carolina and went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing from Indiana State University. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, of which she is a member. Pamela worked as a Registered Nurse on the bone marrow transplant unit at Roper Hospital for 15 years before joining Charleston Oncology, PA in March 2015.

Lisa S. Smith, MSN, APRN-BC

Biography
Lisa obtained a Master of Science in Nursing with an Oncology Specialty from Emory University. She graduated cum laude from The Medical College of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and earned an Associate of Science with honors from Middle Georgia College. She is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center(ANCC). She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Lisa enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, and college football.

Kelly C Burtch, ACNP-BC

Biography
Kelly graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development. She went on and completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing in 2012 at Vanderbilt University specializing in Acute Care. She is a board-certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She previously worked as a Trauma ICU Registered Nurse at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In 2015, she moved to Charleston where she became the Hematology/Oncology Phase I Clinical Trials Nurse Practitioner at Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. In addition to her role in clinical trials, she specialized in gastrointestinal, melanoma, sarcoma as well as head and neck malignancies.

Kelly is a native of Philadelphia and is a die-hard Eagles fan. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, the beach, boating, and sailing. She also enjoys trying new restaurants and cooking.

Gwen Shattuck, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Biography
Gwen graduated from Butler County Community College in Butler, PA with an Associated Degree in Nursing. She then completed her Bachelor’s and subsequently her Master’s Degree in Nursing at Chamberlain College of Nursing. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners with more than 14 years of diverse direct patient care experience. Gwen was recognized as a Daisy Award Honoree in 2016 for providing extraordinary, compassionate, and skillful patient care. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as traveling. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Lowcountry Advanced Practice Nurses Association.

Stephanie Carson, NP

Biography
Stephanie graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse for seven years at Roper St. Francis Hospital on the Oncology and Medical-surgical floors before deciding to further her education. During her time as a Registered Nurse, she was designated a Daisy Award winner for her extraordinary patient care. She completed her Master’s degree in Nursing in 2017 at Walden University specializing and becoming a certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner thru the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a Charleston native who enjoys fishing, surfing, athletics, and spending time with her family including her Boykin Spaniel Duke.

Jeff Floyd, PharmD

Biography
Jeffrey M. Floyd, PharmD, earned his bachelor of science degree from Clemson University in Pharmacy. After Clemson Jeff, a native of Charleston returned home where he received his doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He is a member of the South Carolina Pharmacy Association, American Pharmacy Association, as well as Community Oncology Pharmacy Association. Jeff resides in Charleston with his wife Louisa and daughters Carlisle and Palmer. When not at work they enjoy hunting, fishing, boating, and attending Clemson football games.
