Charleston Oncology Welcomes I. Brian Greenwell, MD to the Team: Now Seeing Patients
Dr. Brian Greenwell is a board-certified oncologist and hematologist with significant contributions to cancer treatment, research, and education. Dr. Greenwell’s journey began at Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He then received his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Dr. Greenwell completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University, followed by a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at MUSC, where he lead the Malignant Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Disease Focus Group.
He also held the position of Associate Director of Education for Hematology/Oncology and is the founder of the Cutaneous Lymphoma Multidisciplinary Clinic at MUSC.
Dr. Greenwell has an extensive publication record in peer-reviewed journals, primarily focusing on lymphoma, myeloma, leukemia, and the biology of bone marrow transplantation. His work has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Lymphoma Research Foundation Scholar. At MUSC, he was actively involved in numerous committees including the American Cancer Society Institutional Review Grant, and the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Committee. He is a recipient of various travel awards, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field. He looks forward to participating in similar endeavors as a part of Roper St. Francis Healthcare.
