DigniCap® scalp cooling system

The DigniCap® system is the first and only scalp cooling device to complete rigorous FDA clinical trials where seven out of 10 patients with early-stage breast cancer kept at least 50% of their hair.

Charleston Oncology has the DigniCap® System, which is FDA approved for women with breast cancer!

The machine works by cooling the scalp causing a reduced blood flow to that area so that less chemotherapy reaches the hair cells. Therefore this reduces chemotherapy-induced hair loss. Prior to this system, patients were required to use manual cold caps kept in freezers and dry ice. Patients would have to change them every 30 minutes to ensure the scalp would remain chilled. Now, you can sit comfortably in your chair with a fitted cap for the duration of your treatment.
